CAPB — Cocamidopropyl Betaine

Cocamidopropyl Betaine (CAPB) is a mild amphoteric surfactant widely used in personal-care, cosmetic and detergent formulations. It combines effective cleansing with good skin compatibility, making it especially suitable for products designed for frequent use or gentle-care applications.

CAPB helps improve foam volume, density and stability while also supporting viscosity adjustment and formulation consistency. It is often blended with anionic surfactants such as SLES to reduce harshness, improve the sensory feel of the finished product and create a richer, creamier foam.

Because of its compatibility with a wide range of surfactants and formulation ingredients, CAPB is commonly used in shampoos, shower gels, facial cleansers, liquid hand soaps, baby-care products, dishwashing liquids and other liquid cleaning products. It also contributes to better product stability and can help enhance the overall performance of both personal-care and household formulations.
